Visa

1) Visa Information for students studying abroad in the Fall ONLY (Full year students skip to bullet point # 2 below):

– (Important note: This information is for US Students only, international students should contact the Argentine Consulate, find out what documents they need from NYU and then let me know).

NYU Buenos Aires staff will help you obtain your visa during the first month of arrival. It is a three step process and you will be advised on every step once onsite but you need to bring the following items!

  • Original valid passport.
  • Two (2) photographs, 4 X 4, headshot with a white or light blue background. You can also get these done at any Kodak or photography place in Buenos Aires, there are a few on Avenida Santa Fe near the NYU Buenos Aires Campus.
  • Since you are all staying 1 semester (up to 6 months), you will be required to pay $400 Argentine pesos (~$100 dollars) in cash.(Remember that these prices might fluctuate a bit, so be flexible!

2) Visa Information for Full Year Students

– (Important note: This information is for US Students only, international students should contact the Argentine Consulate, find out what documents they need from NYU and then let me know).

If you plan to attend NYU Buenos Aires for the full 2012-13 academic year you should begin gathering your required visa documentation immediately.

Be sure to refer regularly to the visa information provided on the website for details and instructions. Here is a quick reference to give you a sense of what you should be planning for.

Required documents:

1) Valid US Passport
2) Long Form Birth Certificate with the appropriate Hague Convention “Apostille” attached
3) FBI Identification Record

**Please note that students who are from either the District of Columbia, Mississippi or Puerto Rico and under the age of 21 have to bring parental consent. Parental consent to travel must also be legalized with the Hague Convention “Apostille”. **

  • Make sure you have a valid passport.  If you need to get one, or yours will expire before March 2013 (fall semester students) or August 2013 (for academic year students), you must apply NOW.

April / May/ June:

  • Gather all supporting materials not supplied by NYU.

1) Long Form Birth Certificate with the appropriate Hague Convention “Apostille” attached (usually takes 2 weeks for birth certificate and an additional 2 weeks for the “Apostille” to be processed).

2) FBI Identification Record (takes about 13 weeks to process)

You will obtain your actual visa in Argentina. Our staff in Buenos Aires will provide you with additional documentation (Enrollment Letter and Argentine Criminal Record) and instructions upon arrival.
